The Olympics really start now. Oh boy, are they starting now? Full 23 sports will be held on Saturday in Tokyo. Eleven gold medals will be awarded.

The first came at 11:30 am Tokyo time (10:30 pm Eastern time on Friday), when Chinese Yang Qian and her won the women’s air rifle competition.

After the embarrassment of their 3-0 loss to Sweden in their opening game, the USA women’s soccer team will attempt to return against New Zealand at 20:30 in Tokyo (07:30 East).

Many of the cyclists who have just finished the Tour de France, including Tadej Pogacar from Slovenia, will compete in the men’s road race. Expect some scenery. There’s plenty of climbing and riders will make their way to Mount Fuji halfway.

Three-on-three basketball makes its Olympic debut, and the American women will play two games.

And in Tokyo evening (US time morning), swimming will begin, but only eliminations, no finals.

Plus more gold medals in weightlifting, archery, judo, fencing and taekwondo. Buckle up!
