A hazy concert from Offset. A generation Z model blew out the birthday candles. Signing day at Gucci. The tropical vibe of art fairs, private dinners, and world-class parties known as Art Basel Miami Beach is back with a vengeance. Here are the highlights from Wednesday night.

There was a long queue at the Gucci store in Miami’s Design District, but this time it was for a book. Mickalene Thomas and her partner Racquel Chevremont were signing copies of their new art book “Monograph”. Less book-loving fans posed in front of neon lights and disco balls for the perfect selfie.

opportunity: Book signing and cocktail party for Miss Thomas.

Room: The second floor of Gucci’s glossy store displays Miss Thomas’ work displayed on giant screens.

In participation: Miss Thomas; Mrs. Chevremont; restaurateur Michael Chow and his wife Vanessa Rano; Tourmaline, an activist; and models including Selah Marley.

Food: Nina Compton, a chef from New Orleans, served hot fried chicken, tuna tartare, and jerked tofu.

Mood: “I’m really excited to see the work at Untitled Art Fair tomorrow,” said Ms. Thomas. “They do a great job of displaying the work and it doesn’t look like you’re walking through a mall.”

Jordan Barrett, a model who was once labeled “It Boy” by Vogue, said she’s never thrown a proper birthday party before. So he invited 40 of his closest friends to Art Basel to help celebrate.

opportunity: Mr. Barrett just turned 25. He was also promoting Hape, the sparkling sake brand.

Room: Gitano Miami is the South Beach outpost of clubby Mexican restaurant in Tulum.

Food: Small shared plates like queso with branzino with chorizo, guacamole and kiwi.

In participation: Mr. Barrett; partner Fernando Augusto Casablancas; Ricky Thompson, actor; Chloe Wise is an artist; Candice Swanepoel, a model; and musician Duckwrth.

Moment of the Night: Around 11:00 pm, Mr. Barrett blew out the candles on two large cakes, one that looked like his own box of mousse candy.

Mood: “The moment I leave here, I really want to get away from as many people as possible and be alone for a moment,” Mr. Barrett said of his vacation plans. “I want to be in the forest and in nature, I hope I can go to the waterfall in Las Palmas.”

The mezcal was flowing and the dance floor was soaked with spilled drinks. After midnight, partygoers crammed themselves into the basement hall for a late-night performance of Offset.

opportunity: Flaunt, a fashion magazine from Los Angeles, celebrated its latest issue.

Room: The downstairs lounge at Gale, a South Beach hotel, is decorated with tropical wallpaper.

In participation: hip hop musicians Offset and Quavo; fashion designer Michele Lamy; actor Ansel Elgort; Model and musician Shaun Ross; and actor Cuba Gooding Jr.

Moment of the Night: After some technical glitches where Offset asked for a few glasses of tequila to fill the awkward silence, she performed two songs, including “Bad and Boujee,” around 1:30pm.

Mood: “A Louis Vuitton show on Monday It became an impromptu tribute. “The show was absolutely fantastic, the best thing we’ve seen about it. It was tough, but it brought people together. I’m going to Chicago for the funeral on Monday.”
