It’s hard to say which Anthony Dirrell achievement is more impressive.
Dirrell, a former super middleweight world champion, landed a bolo punch uppercut on Hernandez’s chin in four rounds in a joint main event match against Marcos Hernandez. Dirrell, 37, of Flint, Mich., made his right arm windmill like a baseball pitcher, and the impact of the punch pulled his head back before sending Hernandez to the canvas.
Seconds after the referee stopped the fight, Dirrell celebrated with a backflip in midfield.
And the landing stuck.
Wearing Michigan State Spartan green and white, Dirrell raised his record to 34-2-2. He said earlier this week that he hopes to face the winner of the main event in his next fight.
