Officials said a state of emergency was declared by the British Columbia government on Tuesday after wildfires in the region ordered dozens of evacuation orders.

The expanded weather forecast called for continued hot and dry conditions along with increased wind activity in Central and Southeast British Columbia, according to the statement. Most of the state was under high or extreme risk starting forest fires.
