Comedian Dave Chappelle handled on stage He performed in Los Angeles earlier Wednesday, according to witnesses and videos of the episode.
It was not immediately clear what prompted the man to rush onto the stage at the Hollywood Bowl. Footage circulating on social media showed the man attacking Mr Chappelle while he was performing.
Several security guards punched and kicked the man, according to Brianna Sacks, a BuzzFeed News journalist who was present at the show. He wrote about the attack on Twitter..
Ms Sacks said police officers and Fire Brigade officials later loaded the man into an ambulance. The video was later shown Unidentified man’s elbow at an awkward angle.
The fight took place just as his performance was about to come to an end. Ms Sacks wrote that actor Jamie Foxx appeared on stage after 48-year-old Mr. Chappelle was interrupted and looked “absolutely shocked”, and musicians Mos Def and Talib Kweli performed as vehicles from the Los Angeles Police Department arrived backstage.
Farshad Dehbozorgi, a 34-year-old lawyer who was on the show, said someone jumped on the stage and “almost tried to take down” the comedian. “Then they kind of wrestled and wrestled and everybody got involved in some way,” he said in a Wednesday morning phone call.
“Everyone was shocked,” Dehbozorgi added. “Nobody Could Believe What Happened”
Dehbozorgi stated that Mr. Chappelle handled the chaotic moment well, adding that the comedian returned to the stage and the venue did not make any security announcements. It is unclear whether the comedian was injured.
Representatives of the Hollywood Bowl and Los Angeles Police Department could not be immediately reached for comment. A spokesperson for Mr Chappelle did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment.
The show aired on Tuesday night is called “Netflix Is a Joke: Dave Chappelle and Friends”. The venue says on its website that the show will be a “phone-free experience” and that attendees must pack their phones in specially designed bags.
