In its second week of release, Drake’s hit new album “Certified Lover Boy” has lost 61 percent of sales, but is still #1 on the Billboard chart, while Grammy-winning country star Kacey Musgraves’ latest LP is in theaters. at number 3.
“Certified Child in Love” sold the equivalent of 236,000 in the US, up from 613,000 in its first week, according to MRC Data, Billboard’s tracking arm. With songs on the album receiving 305 million clicks, nearly all of the songs on the album were attributed to the streaming activity – still a huge weekly number beat this year only in the opening weeks of J. Musgraves’ fifth studio album, “Starry” starts at number 3 with 77,000 sales, including 38 million streams and 47,000 copies sold as a complete package. Musgraves’ latest LP, “Golden Hour,” won album of the year and best country album at the 2019 Grammys.
West’s “Donda” ranks at number 2 in its third week with the equivalent of 79,000 sales. Olivia Rodrigo’s “Sour” starts at number 4, and Kendrick Lamar’s protégé rapper Baby Keem’s “The Melodic Blue” starts at number 5.
Also this week, Metallica’s 1991 self-titled album known to fans as the “Black Album” and featuring groundbreaking hits such as “Enter Sandman” and “The Unforgiven” jumped 149 spots to number 9 at number one. 30th anniversary reprint.
