Noah Lyles, one of the favorites slowed as he neared the end of his fire and was overtaken by two runners, missing the auto-rank spot. He then advanced to the finals according to his time. Lyles said she was sticking with her plan, which apparently meant saving some energy, but conceded it was “a bit risky.”
