Ahead of the Men’s Final Four scheduled for Saturday, 13 have been selected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2022. Nine people are expected to be honored in person at halftime of the Duke-North Carolina semifinal, and the entire class is scheduled to attend. September 9-10, Springfield, Mass.

The group includes former NBA stars Manu Ginobili and Tim Hardaway; West Virginia Coach Bob Huggins; former NBA coach George Karl; and longtime referee Hugh Evans. Two-time gold medalist Lindsay Whalen, who currently coaches at the University of Minnesota, former UConn and WNBA star Swin Cash, and Indiana Fever head coach Marianne Stanley are also honored.

Among the contributors are Larry Costello, known as the NBA’s last two-handed set pitcher, and Del Harris, a longtime NBA coach, are part of the class. A notable omission among contributors has long been New York-based talent scout Tom KonchalskiDied of prostate cancer in February 2021.

“Over the years, we are continually reminded of the extraordinary and outstanding efforts of the extraordinary men and women who have impacted the game of basketball from a global perspective,” said Hall of Fame president John L. Doleva in a statement.
