Georgia’s Bulldog Mascot Meets Butler’s Bulldog Mascot


The most famous bulldog in Indianapolis these days is Butler Blue IV, the mascot of Butler University.

But don’t tell this to Georgia fans who idolize their bulldog mascot, Uga X, also known as Que.

Que is the latest star of English bulldogs, owned by the Seiler family of Savannah, Ga., and serving as the living, breathing athletic symbol of Georgia since 1956. Athens in an air-conditioned doghouse. Of course, the stadium has Uga lore beyond the fences that surround the field: Georgia bury its deceased dog mascots in marble vaults at Sanford.

The Butler also has a tradition of respecting his bulldogs – We visited Blue IV in 2020, while he was training for his new job, and that was pretty showcase – but it’s unclear whether the dogs had settled the bulldog issue that was the most popular when they met in Indianapolis.
