ZHANGJIAKOU, China — American competitive snowboard star Jamie Anderson will attempt to win her third consecutive Olympic gold medal in the women’s incline style final on Sunday. Anderson, a California native, won the slope style’s inaugural Olympic appearance in 2014 and again in 2018.

Now 31 years old, he is a strong contender if not a favourite. New Zealander Zoi Sadowski-Synnott, 20, defeated Anderson two weeks ago at the X Games in Aspen, Colo, and is hoping to avenge what he saw as a huge disappointment: finishing 13th at the 2018 Pyeongchang Games, while still 16th when he was new.

The finale is still packed with outstanding global talent. Those hoping for a gold medal, or at least a podium finish, include Japan’s Kokomo Murase, Finland’s Enni Rukajarvi, Austria’s Anna Gasser and Australia’s Tess Coady.

Each athlete will do three runs on challenging track and jump courses. The best single run wins.
