Kamaru Usman defended the heavyweight title by unanimously defeating rival Colby Covington.
Usman knocked down Covington twice in the second round and was nearly finishing. But Covington bounced back and was competitive for the remainder of the game, keeping a high tempo, keeping Usman on the fence and also delivering solid punches and a header. It could be argued that this could be a split decision. Still, he also linked to the Usman attacks and effectively defended takedowns.
