‘Kissing Booth 3’ Review: The End While Pecking

Like a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top of chocolate and strawberry balls, “The Kissing Booth 3” wraps up the sugary teen trilogy with a smooth, if appropriate, finale. The story begins after graduating from high school as Elle (Joey King) and her best friend Lee (Joel Courtney) prepare for college. In the expanded universe of “The Kissing Booth,” that means moving to an oceanfront mansion and spending days ticking off an elaborate summer to-do list. (If Elle and Lee were on TikTok, Excitement House there would be some competition.)

As Elle’s dreamy girlfriend Noah (Jacob Elordi) watches from the sidelines, she and Lee start a flash mob, splash out on a waterslide and hold a real-life Mario Kart-like contest on the movie’s most cartoony set. with go-karts accelerating on a racetrack. Complex timing stress, family anxiety, and relationship triangles fuel minor growing pains. But among long fun montages in the sun, worries are short.

Like the first two films, wish fulfillment characterizes “The Kissing Booth 3”, which showcases the ultimate aspirational teen lifestyle: adoring handsome men, luxury pool parties, white sand “California” beaches (all three films were shot in South Africa). But when it comes to gender dynamics, director Vince Marcello takes important steps. According to the conclusion of the story, Elle distances herself from the surrounding men. It develops a sense of self and some career ambitions. No one would call this a seminal moment for feminism. But at least there are no other kissing booths.
