Two dozen different commemorative transit fare tokens were created for the Southern California Rapid Transit District in cooperation with the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee for use during the 1984 Olympic Year. Each token was distinctively designed and crafted to illustrate the sports represented at the 1984 Summer Olympic Games, held the City of Los Angeles. The reverse side of each coin bears the official symbols of the XXIIIrd Olympiad. The set was designed by the noted numismatic artist, N. Neil Harris. These brass tokens are the size of a half dollar and are estiamted to be in almost uncirculated condition. 6,829 athletes from 140 countries took part in the Games.
