The USA women’s rugby sevens team advanced to the quarterfinals.

The American women’s rugby sevens team kicked off the Olympic tournament with victories over China and Japan on Thursday, securing the United States a spot in the quarterfinals on Friday.

The team’s undefeated group stage match against Australia on Friday will determine which team from the group will take first place.

Unlike the men’s rugby sevens team, which has been called the so-called death group, the women’s team started the tournament by playing against two relatively weak enemies.

In the first game, the Americans withdrew from China in the second half thanks to two long tries from Kristi Kirshe and took a 28-14 win. In the second game, the Americans took a 17-0 lead after his trials. Ilona Maher and Jordan Matyas and won 17-7.

Chris Brown, head coach of the USA team, said there was still room for improvement. “Two years ago the men’s and women’s sides were number 2 in the world,” he said. “So we need to put on a performance that people are excited to get into. I’m sure we’ll get back together tomorrow and show it stronger.”

Earlier in the week, the US men’s also advanced to the quarterfinals, but lost 26-21 to England, ending medal hopes. They finished the tournament in sixth place.
