Week 15 Predictions: Our Anti-Diffusion Choices

Both the Jaguars (2-11) and Texans (2-11) are vying for the draft spot at this point, and players whose contracts on those teams have expired are hoping to make a good tape for potential suitors this season. . On paper, they might look evenly matched: Texans’ rookie quarterback Davis Mills reclaimed the starting job by not being Tyrod Taylor, and Jaguars’ Trevor Lawrence is leading the league in qualifying (14).

But amid reports that the NFL’s freshman coach Urban Meyer has already worn out the locker room, Houston is poised to be “sad” given the turmoil in Jacksonville. Jaguar’s players will technically be there, but don’t expect them to show up. To collect: Texans +3.5

Cincinnati Bengals in Denver Broncos, 16:05, CBS

Line: Broncos -1.5 | Total: 43.5

At this point, we know the Broncos (7-6) are unbearably average and will lose to bad teams and lose to good teams. The Bengals (7-6) also had some ups and downs, but as they continued to grow they showed more flashes of talent from their young stars. Cincinnati forced the 49ers into overtime last week and nearly won, and that momentum should continue. The Broncos have not collected back-to-back wins since early November and they should suffer another potential loss this week. To collect: Bengals +1.5

Atlanta Falcons at San Francisco 49ers, 16:05, CBS

Line: 49ers -9.5 | Total: 46

On beating the Formula Falcons (6-7): cover Kyle Pitts, control Cordarrelle Patterson and fire him when Matt Ryan grabs the ball as he tries to find an option.

But it’s hard to limit Patterson, as the Falcons continue to feed their breakout quarterbacks with so many touchdowns that they’ve tied for the most sixth touchdowns on offense. The 49ers (7-6) have their own version of Patterson – Deebo Samuel – and he’s better. Samuel is fifth in scrimmage (11) and fifth in total yards (1,268). He should have fun against Atlanta’s weak defense. To collect: 49ers -9.5

Minnesota Vikings at Chicago Bears, 8:15 pm ESPN

Line: Vikings -4 | Total: 44

The Bears (4-9) don’t deserve prime time games anymore, but here we are. The offense is terrible, scoring just 17.8 points per game. Justin Fields’ development has been what you’d expect from a struggling rookie. He showed strong looks as he did in the halftime goal burst against the Packers last week, but he completes less than 60 percent of his passes.

The Vikings’ onslaught is on the rise in a roller coaster season. Dalvin Cook rushed for over 200 yards last week and Justin Jefferson has scored at least one goal in three of the last four weeks. Minnesota (6-7) struggled with single-scoring games and allowed lower-end opponents to remain competitive, but this should be a good statement game before a playoff push. To collect: Vikings -4

A quick start for those unfamiliar with bet lines: Favorites are listed next to a negative number indicating how many points they need to score to close the spread. Raiders -5.5, for example, means that Las Vegas’ supporters must beat Chicago by at least 6 points to win the bet. Gamblers can also bet on the total points or whether the teams’ total points in the game are above or below a predetermined number.
