The Greatest Gymnast Ever Simone Biles Has Grown Up

Mentally, the past five years have been what he calls “a long journey.” When the 2020 Olympics were postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, Biles curled up in a corner of the gym’s locker room and cried. He didn’t want to be associated too much with USA Gymnastics.

One of her coaches, Cecile Landi, who was her personal trainer in Tokyo, persuaded Biles to take a leave: go on vacation, look for a bigger house, get a jacuzzi, relax.

The proposal allowed Biles to enjoy the larger world around him. He bought a home in Spring, Texas and built it with the help of one of his best friends, interior designer Kayla Rivers. They put together mood boards with an overarching theme that makes everything luxurious and glamorous.

Relaxed, grown-up Biles has also gotten herself a boyfriend, Jonathan Owens, a security for the Houston Texans in the NFL. They met and were inseparable when she sent him an Instagram direct message last summer. At first, he had no idea who he was. He’s still annoyed that he’s featured in TV commercials and that girls squeal when they see him in public and ask for a selfie.

In February, he and Owens flew to Belize, where Nellie Biles arrived, and took a couple vacations riding Jet Skis and swimming with sharks. They sipped their cocktails and celebrated being young and in love.

Biles doesn’t know what to do after gymnastics. Are you working out in the gym? Coach in college? He’s excited for his next episode, but it scares him. But before that, he has to perform at the Olympics for the public that adores him and the sport that could destroy him.

It’s like, “Okay, come over here and get the job done” about Biles’ gymnastics career. “You want it to come, but you don’t want it to end.”
